Ingredients
- 1 tsp ceremonial-grade matcha
- 2 oz hot water (about 175°F / 80°C)
- 6 oz milk or plant-based milk (almond, oat, soy, etc.)
- Sweetener to taste (maple syrup, honey, or stevia — optional)
Instructions
Sift the Matcha
Use a fine mesh strainer to sift 1 tsp of matcha powder into a bowl or cup — this helps prevent clumps.
Add Hot Water
Pour in 2 oz of hot (not boiling) water. Ideal temperature is around 175°F (80°C).
Whisk Until Frothy
Use a bamboo whisk (chasen) in a zigzag “M” motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and frothy.
Heat & Froth Milk
Warm your milk and froth it using a handheld frother, steam wand, or by shaking in a jar (with the lid on).
Pour & Enjoy
Pour the frothed milk over the whisked matcha. Sweeten if desired. Sip slowly and enjoy your calm energy boost.
Tips for the Perfect Latte
- Use ceremonial-grade matcha for the smoothest, least bitter flavor.
- Don’t use boiling water — it can make the matcha taste harsh.
- Want it iced? Just skip heating the milk and pour everything over ice!
